A 42-year-old man is dead as the result of a two-vehicle crash on the Trans Canada near Glenwood Friday afternoon.
Police say an SUV crossed the centre line into oncoming traffic and side-wiped another vehicle.
The driver and lone occupant of the SUV was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. He died at the scene.
The occupants of the other vehicle were not injured.
The crash caused a significant backlog on the highway with a major diversion through Gander Bay.
The cause of the crash is under investigation with the help of the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office.
