4 fashion trends spotted at the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2025 show by Pharrell Williams
Pharrell Williams has been hitting the ground running every season since he took the reins of Louis Vuitton’s menswear collections. The designer opened the Spring/Summer 2025 Men’s Fashion Week in Paris with a new wardrobe centered around the notion of unity. After presenting his eagerly anticipated debut show on the New Bridge, just a stone’s throw from the French trunk-maker’s headquarters, and another one, this time inspired by the roots of American Western wardrobe and exploring the origins of workwear, at the Jardin d’Acclimatation in Paris’s 16th arrondissement, the multi-disciplinary designer turned his attention to the notion of unity. Last night’s collection explored the similarities that bind us all together around the world, as well as paying tribute to the French fashion house’s know-how and heritage.
What better location for the show than the grounds of UNESCO House in Paris, which was built in 1958 with the goal of unifying humanity in world peace through culture? The collection was presented to the soundtrack of Williams’ own composition Triumphus Cosmos. Some of the collection’s most striking prints were developed in partnership with the Air Afrique creative collective, who also directed a cinematic prelude to the show. Here, a round-up of the key trends from the show, which successfully opened Men’s Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2025 in Paris.
Fashion trends from Pharrell Williams’ Spring/Summer 2025 show for Louis Vuitton
All the colors come from black
Contrary to what we have been accustomed to seeing in his first Louis Vuitton shows, Pharrell Williams opened his show with around 20 black silhouettes. While at first glance they may seem discreet, the looks, composed of velvet suits with rhinestone collars, leather biker-style pants, a fully monogrammed tracksuit and a cardigan paired with suit pants, stood out thanks to the details rooted in the house’s savoir-faire. The designer played with fabrics, tones and transparency to elevate the garments.
Mayday!
Pharrell Williams, who is from Virginia in the United States, turned to travel to create this new wardrobe for Louis Vuitton. He drew inspiration from aviation pilots’ uniforms, which included slim-fitting jackets, perfectly cut double-breasted coats and suits, and knitwear with the distinctive pilot’s insignia. He also focused on travelers, with tracksuits, silky evening pajamas and jumpsuits worn with sleeves wrapped around the waist. The resulting look was an image of the modern-day globetrotter.
Blokecore
Was Pharrell Williams inspired by the current Euro Football Championship? It would seem so, as the designer made several nods to the game, paying homage to what he sees as the world’s most unifying game. Football shirts emblazoned with the Louis Vuitton logo and a bomber jacket seemingly made from rubber balls burst onto the catwalk. These designs were perfectly in line with the blokecore trend which is currently gaining traction and which marries 1990s British pub culture and the style of football supporters.
Hand in bag!
Because Louis Vuitton is first and foremost famous for its leather accessories, Pharrell Williams unveiled a new line of soft leather accessories, including the house’s iconic Alma, Christopher and Neverfull, designed in ultra-soft leather, just like the Speedy P9 model introduced by the designer at his first fashion show. This season, the designer opted to offer the latter in softer pastel colors, such as pale pink, peach and mint green.
