2024 Spring All-Met: Golf first team, second team, honorable mention
Abigail Avallone, So., Stone Ridge
Avallone took home the individual title at the Washington Metro Private School Girls’ Golf Invitational for the second year in a row with an even-par 72 in the two-day event. Her efforts helped secure a second straight team win for the Gators.
Jacob Foti, Sr., St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes
The Christopher Newport commit missed out on an Interstate Athletic Conference individual title by one stroke and was one of just four golfers to qualify as an individual for the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association tournament for the second year in a row.
Jack Hartman, Sr., Gonzaga
The Bucknell commit was a key presence in the Eagles’ run of championships, averaging 35 strokes per nine-hole match in the regular season and finishing in the top five at the WCAC, Metro and DCSAA championships.
Rúa Kimotho, Sr., Georgetown Prep
In what would be considered an up-and-down season by his standards, Kimotho took his play to another level at the IAC championship, earning low medalist honors with an even-par 72 at the challenging P.B. Dye Golf Club.
Dennis McGowan, Sr., Paul VI
McGowan wrapped a stellar career at Paul VI by being the only golfer to finish under par at the Washington Metro Golf championship, shooting a 5-under 67 at Worthington Manor.
Voted first-team all-conference in the WCAC, Orr averaged less than a stroke over par over the course of the regular season and finished in the top 10 at the conference tournament and the VISAA meet as Paul VI advanced to Metros for the third straight year.
Jason Park, So., Georgetown Prep
Park was the most consistent player on a talent-filled team, shooting 39 or better in every regular season match. A seventh-place individual finish at the IAC championship helped bring Georgetown Prep a conference title.
Logan Reilly, Jr., Bishop O’Connell
He boasted a 15-0 record in match play and earned low medalist honors at the VISSA Division I state championship. He was awarded WCAC co-player of the year honors alongside Looney.
Jimmy Spallone, Jr., St. John’s
He averaged an impressive 33.36 strokes per match as the Cadets’ top shooter and finished with a 9-2 regular season record, losing only to other All-Met first-teamers Reilly and McGowan.
Oliver Wang, Sr., St. Albans
Taking his role as a leader to heart, Wang played a huge part in another successful season for the Bulldogs. He finished all three postseason tournaments in the top three, including a tie for runner-up at IACs.
Bob Barry, Georgetown Prep
In 41 years as head coach, Barry has watched his Hoyas hoist the IAC trophy 26 times. This year’s title, the sixth straight for Georgetown Prep, held extra significance for Barry: It was his 600th win coaching the Hoyas.
