2024 NBA Finals: Mavericks vs. Celtics Odds & Picks (Game 4)

No team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit in the NBA Playoffs. Therefore, it’s highly unlikely that it will happen in the NBA Finals, with the Boston Celtics already earning a win on the road in Game 3.

The Dallas Mavericks have shown they can play good basketball against the Celtics. But they haven’t sustained any of that success throughout an entire game.

At home, Dallas limited turnovers to below 10%. The Mavericks even added the most points they’ve scored per 100 possessions in the NBA Finals. But it wasn’t enough against the Celtics, who were shorthanded again without Kristaps Porzingis.

Will the Celtics clinch the NBA Finals on Friday in Dallas? Let’s talk about it below. Here are our top NBA Finals picks ahead of Game 4.

Series Winner

The Boston Celtics are now -3500 to win the NBA Finals. Even though no team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit, it’s not worth betting on the Celtics with this price.

Instead, you’ll want to consider backing the Celtics in Game 4 if you want to bet on the Celtics to win the NBA Championship.

If the Celtics win on Friday, you’d clinch a -110 wager instead of a -3500 wager.

But even if the Celtics lose Friday and have to play at home in Game 5, Boston would be a heavy favorite around -300—not -3500!

NBA Finals MVP

I suggested Jaylen Brown as the MVP throughout the entire series. He was plus-money up until Game 4. However, now he’s sitting at -340 to win the MVP.

Brown scored 30 points and added eight assists and eight rebounds to help the Celtics escape the Mavericks in Game 3. he also shot 12-for-22 from the field and was more effective from the field than Jayson Tatum.

While Tatum has done more than just scoring the basketball, Brown has been more efficient in almost every category. Unless Tatum goes 15-for-15 from the field and adds 50 points in a blowout win over Dallas in Game 4, the MVP belongs to Brown.

That said, if you already have a Brown wager at plus money, you can consider a small bet on Jayson Tatum… just in case. You’ll profit regardless as long as the Celtics win the Championship.

Bet: Jayson Tatum (+270)

Celtics vs. Mavericks Game 4 Best Bet

I’ve been on the Mavericks all series against the spread, and it’s backfired. At some point, we have to discuss how good the Celtics are.

Boston hasn’t lost a game in over a month. They’re like the UConn Huskies of the NBA. They’re stacked, well-coached, and could have any player step up at any given time.

In Game 3, the Celtics added only 13.6% of offensive rebounds. Yet Boston still won 106-99 after shooting a 56.7% effective field goal percentage with only 9.8% of turnovers.

The Celtics’ season has been historic, and this year will finish that way. Let’s back the Celtics at -104.

Bet: Celtics ML (-104)
