2024 Big3 Basketball Best Bets: Week 2
Here are our best bets for this week of Big3 basketball action.
Enemies vs. Ghost Ballers
The defending champs got the season off on the right foot with a come-from-behind win against the Triplets last weekend. After trailing by as much as 13 points (but only by two at the break, 25-23), the Enemies dominated âIso-Joeâ and the rest of the Triplets 27-19 in the second half to secure a 50-44 win. This weekend, theyâll have another challenge on their hand against the Ghost Ballers, who were also come-from-behind winners in Week 1 (50-48). Whatever adjustments Enemies head coach Nick Young made at halftime worked, considering the drastic difference between how the two halves played out. But heâll face a team with a drastically different style this weekend coached by an NBA legend, George âthe Icemanâ Gervin.
Pick: Enemies -3.5 (-110)
â Travis Pulver
Trilogy vs. Tri-State
Both teams are coming off hard losses in Week 1 but in different circumstances. The Trilogy had a 25-19 lead at the half but got blown out of the water in the second 33-22 to lose 52-47. Tri-State, however, simply got blown out, losing 51-37 to the Ball Hogs. Both teams had key guys struggle with their shots in their respective games. The edge in this matchup may lie with Trilogy. While it hurt to have team captain Earl Clark go 4-20 from the floor, the team played solid defense. On the other hand, Tri-State couldnât get anything going on offense or defense. The Trilogy appear to be the better team and should win, but it is hard to say whether they can cover.
Pick: UNDER 91.5 (+100)
â Travis Pulver
3âs Company vs. Bivouac
Bivouac stormed back from a 25-19 halftime deficit, outscoring the Trilogy 33-22 to secure a 52-47 victory. Gerald Green led the way with 18 points, while Garlon Green and Corey Brewer each recorded double-doubles. Meanwhile, 3âs Company won a thriller against Power. They finished with four players in double figures, and Reggie Evans, the only player who didnât score at least 10 points, pulled down 11 rebounds. Even with consistent scoring from four of their five players, 3âs Companyâs performance was slightly disappointing. Yet, they still managed to get the win. Now, with one game under their belt, they will use all of their weapons to easily defeat arguably the worst 1-0 team in the league.
Pick: 3âs Company -3.5 (-110)
â Phil Wood
Power vs. Killer 3âs
Both Power and the Killer 3âs are coming off heartbreaking losses in Week 1. Power fell 52-50 to 3âs Company, while the Killer 3âs lost 50-48 against the Ghost Ballers. Despite both teams having good showings in Week 1, the Killer 3âs are favored by 5.5 in this game. Thatâs far too big of a spread. The Killer 3âs lost their first game because of two players, as Mike Taylor and Chris Johnson combined for 41. While Power have slightly more depth, they also have two players that can score at a high rate. Glen Rice Jr. and Marcus Foster combined for 32 points in Week 1. Ricer and Foster are in line for huge games this week. And the Power defense will be better against a team that isnât as deep as 3âs Company. Weâre not saying Power wins the game, but they will keep it close.
Pick: Power +5.5 (-110)
â Phil Wood
Triplets vs. 3 Headed Monsters
The 3 Headed Monsters have a stacked roster of Greg Monroe, Brandon Moss, and Jeff Teague. Ultimately, head coach Rashard Lewis put together multiple lineups and got eight or more points out of every player on the oyster in Week 1. Teague and Monroe could be perfect fits in the Big 3 after their 51-46 win over the Aliens. On the other hand, the Triplets lost Week 1 to the Enemies. Theyâre led by Joe Johnson, who scored 22 points on 20 field goal attempts. But theyâre not nearly as deep as the 3-Headed Monsters and canât be trusted in this weekâs matchup.
Pick: 3 Headed Monsters +2.5 (+100)
â Jason Radowitz
Ball Hogs vs. Aliens
The Aliens are in deep trouble if Paul Milsap is hurt. He left early against the 3-Headed Monsters in Week 1 with an injury and didnât return. So now, his status is up in the air. This same team struggled last season, and without Milsap, it could get ugly again this year. Meanwhile, the Ball Hogs earned a 51-37 win over Tri-State in Week 1. Leandro Barbosa and Jodie Meeks are terrific scoring guards, but the Ball Hogs could dominate the league this season with new addition Larry Sanders on the defensive end. With the Aliens trending down and the Ball Hogs trending up, take the Ball Hogs at -3.5.
Pick: Ball Hogs -3.5 (-110)
