2024 Belmont Stakes odds: Sierra Leone favored in stacked, 10-horse field

Position Horse Jockey Trainer Morning Line Odds
1 Seize the Grey Jaime Torres D. Wayne Lukas 8-1
2 Resilience Junior Alvarado Bill Mott 10-1
3 Mystik Dan Brian Hernandez Jr. Kenny McPeek 5-1
4 The Wine Steward Manny Franco Mike Maker 15-1
5 Antiquarian John Velazquez Todd Pletcher 12-1
6 Dornoch Luis Saez Danny Gargan 15-1
7 Protective Tyler Gaffalione Todd Pletcher 20-1
8 Honor Marie Florent Geroux Whit Beckman 12-1
9 Sierra Leone Flavien Prat Chad Brown 9-5
10 Mindframe Irad Ortiz Jr. Todd Pletcher 7-2

Saturday’s post time at the Belmont’s temporary home of Saratoga Race Course in New York state is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. ET on FOX.

With a temporary venue for the first time since 1967 while Belmont Park undergoes renovations, the race will be shortened to 1.25 miles instead of the customary 1.50.

And for the first time since 2013, the separate winners of the Kentucky Derby (Mystik Dan) and Preakness Stakes (Seize the Grey) are scheduled to run the Belmont Stakes.

However, neither horse is favored Saturday in the 10-entrant field. That distinction goes to Kentucky Derby runner-up Sierra Leone, who is 9-5 on the morning line odds after skipping the Preakness.

Mindframe, trainer Todd Pletcher’s talented colt who is making only his third start, is right behind Sierra Leone at 7-2.

They’re followed by Mystik Dan (5-1) and Seize the Grey (8-1). The latter, trained by D. Wayne Lukas, has drawn the coveted No. 1 post position and is attempting to become the first horse since Afleet Alex in 2005 to win both the Preakness and Belmont Stakes after failing to win the Kentucxky Derby.

At 10-1, Resilience is the only other horse of the remaining six with 10-1 or better morning line odds.
