Race 1. (11:50) Sportsbet Set A Deposit Limit Hcp 1000m

Back Me

4 Husk (Bet Now: $4.40) is a Team Hawkes trained filly that is heading in the right direction. This girl resumed at over 1000m at Sandown where she sat near the speed throughout before being clicked up by Childs and away she went for a dominant win. Had trialled super in Sydney leading in, has good ability, good racing style, appeals as a key chance.

Danger

2 Blue Renegade (Bet Now: $4.80) returns to Sandown and I do think back to 1000m, he appeals as one of the hardest to beat. He was a dominant track/distance winner two back before racing at Caulfield last time when on speed and tried his guts out but found one better, just, in Interest Point. Back to the Sandown 1000m, good racing style, hard to beat.

Long Shot

5 Cora Lynn (Bet Now: $4.60) is a definite threat. She debuted behind Husk at Sandown in the race mentioned above. She got back off the speed and while she was never a threat, she kept finding the line in a really good effort behind the Hawkes filly. Can settle closer, good upside, dangerous.

Race 2. (12:25) Ive > Hcp 1400m

7 La Fracas (Bet Now: $5.50) looks a progressive horse for Price/Kent that is heading in the right direction. Debuted over 1200m at Pakenham when on speed throughout before being clicked up by Childs and away he went, gapping his rivals to win and win well, beating Buzz City, who won last week to frank the form. 1400m is ideal, good racing style…hard to beat.

Danger

1 Mogwai (Bet Now: $8.00) should appreciate a firmer deck. James Cummings trained three year old that ran at Rosehill two weeks ago on an absolute bog and he couldn’t pick his feet up in the conditions behind Franz Josef, beaten over 20 lengths but when it comes to runs like that, I find horses don’t use all their energy because when they put the white flag up on a bog, they switch right off. I think on a firmer track, he’ll take beating.

Long Shot

4 Gallant Prince (Bet Now: $9.50) lands on speed and will give cheek if he can get some form of control in front. He ran four weeks back at Flemington over 1400m when attempting to lead throughout and giving a decent enough sight but just couldn’t quite see it through, tiring late behind Riverina Power. If he leads and gets a cheap furlong or two, he will give a sight.

Race 3. (13:00) Vale Fr Brendan Dillon (Bm70) 1400m

Back Me

16 Name Dropper (Bet Now: $5.50) for me in what looks a very open contest. Richard Laming trained gelding that resumes, having not raced since his debut at Eagle Farm on Aug 16 when smashed late in betting and he duly bolted up in impressive fashion. Given a good break, he’s now in Victoria and has looked very good in three jumpouts to prepare for his return. Happy to be in his corner.

Danger

6 Vail Mountain (Bet Now: $6.00) should appreciate getting back to 1400m. He ran over the mile at Bendigo last time where he was a touch keen behind the speed but still had something to offer. Unfortunately, things didn’t go to plan and he didn’t really get a chance to build the revs. Maps perfect, and his prior efforts were good enough to take this out.

Long Shot

10 Oceans Above (Bet Now: $13.00) is a Simon Zahra trained galloper that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since Jan 20 at Flemington over 2000m when back near last in the run and made up minimal ground, looking a tired horse behind Aramco. Jumpout work has been solid enough and although 1400m is on the short side, he will be strong late.

Race 4. (13:35) Evergreen Turf (Bm70) 1300m

Back Me

5 Batrana (Bet Now: $3.60) looks to have returned in excellent order and she should appreciate the rise in trip. She resumed over 1200m at Caulfield two weeks ago where she got back to near last in the run and did make up good ground late in the piece when a close up third to British Angel. Fitter and up in trip, if she can settle closer…she’ll take beating.

Danger

1 Paradise City (Bet Now: $8.50) brings somewhat of a class edge for Moody/Coleman and has to be respected. Ran in the British Angel race mentioned above when on speed throughout and tried her guts out but couldn’t quite finish the job when second. If she can get a cheap run on speed, 1300m is fine. Leading chance.

Long Shot

2 Flying Fizz (Bet Now: $9.00) is an improver for Matty Williams. This filly is three weeks between runs since racing over 1400m here when wide no cover throughout and battled away well enough in defeat but I just think that early burn took away something from her finale behind Miss Aria. Better run in transit, she can run a much improved race.

Race 5. (14:10) Sportsbet Fast Form (Bm74) 1600m

Back Me

14 Arqana (Bet Now: $5.50) should eat up the mile. Team Freedman trained mare that ran over 1400m at Caulfield two weeks ago where she took far too long to wind into her work but she kept finding the line in a good effort behind Subliminal. That is three runs on the bounce over 1400m and for mine, she is crying out for more ground, which she gets here.

Danger

5 Blue Moon (Bet Now: $10.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness for Matt Laurie. This mare ran over this track/distance three weeks ago when off the speed and kept chasing without threatening in a decent effort behind the in form Matriarch Rose. Hard fit now, can settle closer, likeable for sure.

Long Shot

8 Speak (Bet Now: $21.00) is a Mike Moroney trained staying mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since Nov 22 over 2100m on the Lakeside track here when getting a suck run behind the speed but couldn’t quite finish the race off behind Sea Speedwell. First up at the mile I like, recent jumpout was good and her overseas form does have quality to it. Watch the market.

Race 6. (14:45) Quayclean (Bm78) 1600m

Back Me

13 Jabbawockeez (Bet Now: $5.00) is three weeks between runs for Team Hayes since racing at this track/distance where he got into a decent spot just off the speed and tried hard but lacked the killer finale to go with them late in the piece behind Hard To Cross. Looks better suited here and can run a much improved race.

Danger

1 Hard To Cross (Bet Now: $4.60) is flying for Patrick Payne and rates highly. He has won two on the bounce, the latest win coming over this track/distance where he got into a dream spot behind the speed before angling clear and knuckled down with purpose late to win and win well. Creeping up in the relative weights but hard to knock his recent efforts.

Long Shot

16 Big Brew (Bet Now: $15.00) should appreciate a rise to the mile for Team Hope. This gelding ran over 1500m on the Lakeside track here last time when just off the speed and trucking before angling into clear air and knuckled down but just couldn’t quite get there when third to Bigolino. Hard fit now and up to an ideal trip, he rates highly.

Back Me

18 Wondereach (Bet Now: $5.50) is a short course specialist and looks to be humming towards another win. Dominant track/distance winner from three weeks ago, leading all the way and just produced sustained speed from the outset to win and win well. More depth here, but with her racing style, she’ll give herself every chance.

Danger

2 Viviane (Bet Now: $5.50) is very well suited back to 84 grade. Matty Ellerton trained mare that ran at Caulfield a fortnight back in a solid open sprint and she ran a very credible race in defeat from near the speed when fourth to surprise winner La Danseuse Rouge. She loves racing at Sandown and has class.

Long Shot

1 Scissor Step (Bet Now: $11.00) is drawn wide but should slide forward. Kennedy gave him a 12/10 to win here fresh at this track/distance, getting there in a driving go. Harder here, especially with the gate, but should slide forward and be quite genuine when the whips are cracking.

Race 8. (16:05) Tile Importer Hcp 1400m

Back Me

13 So Risque (Bet Now: $7.00) is a key threat. Team Hayes trained gelding that ran at this track/distance three weeks ago when doing a bit of early work from the wide gate to land near the speed and fought on quite well in defeat when third to stablemate Nicolini Vito. Very honest animal that is rarely far away and overall, this isn’t a deep race.

Danger

4 Nicolini Vito (Bet Now: $4.00) has found winning form and he can certainly go on with it. Stablemate of So Risque that won the race mentioned above from three weeks ago. He got into a decent spot off the speed before being presented wider into clear air and he let down with purpose to win and win well. No reason why he can’t win again.

Long Shot

1 Gentleman Roy (Bet Now: $17.00) is capable with his best for Team Hayes. Didn’t do a bad job fresh at Caulfield behind Shock Em Ova before going to Sandown three weeks back where he was ridden with far more intent but couldn’t sustain the run and tired late behind Nicolini Vito. Third up, hard fit and his best is clearly good enough.

Back Me

1 Smokin’ Romans (Bet Now: $15.00) is three weeks between runs for Ciaron Maher since racing at this track/distance when near the speed throughout and he tried his guts out but just lacked the change up speed to go with them late in the piece behind SA raider Pudding. Hard fit now, can settle forward, has class…likeable.

Danger

4 Jimmy The Bear (Bet Now: $4.80) is racing as if 1800m suits. He ran over the mile two weeks back at Caulfield where he got back in a race dominated on speed and couldn’t get involved but was far from disgraced in defeat behind Dashing. Like him up in trip and that was his first run in a few weeks so he does have room for improvement.

Long Shot

12 Wyclif (Bet Now: $12.00) should appreciate a rise to 1800m. He resumed over the mile at Caulfield a fortnight back and was quite good from off the speed in a slowly run race, won by Dashing. Munhamek franked the form in the Swan Hill Cup, which reads very well, and with good upside to come, a rise in trip, Wyclif is certainly in with a shout.

BEST BET: Race Two Number 7 La Fracas

NEXT BEST: Race Four Number 5 Batrana

LONG SHOT: Race Nine Number 1 Smokin Romans
